Bunker21 is always one of my go to Korean places, especially for their B21 fries! Although I always take this order to go and very rarely dine in here, the quality is always on point! The service and ambiance of this place is always so kind and accommodating as well. It's been a while since I've had their fried chicken, but I plan to try it again sometime!
My go-to korean fried chicken spot in Cerritos/Artesia area. They are also popular for take out orders. I usually order 6pc wing with either umami soy, sweet chili, or hot & crispy depending on the mood, as well as their beef bap which is a bulgogi bowl with onions, rice, and an egg (extra charge). Their sweet potato fries are also a must, perfectly crispy and sprinkled with sugar. The complimentary salad and radish have unlimited refills! Just be prepared to wait a bit for the wings as they're freshly cooked.
Food: 4/5 Ordered chicken wings: Reaper and Soy flavors. Reaper was delicious, dry rub and very spicy. The soy was wonderfully seasoned as well. Chicken wings were nice and crispy and came out hot! Also had fries with bulgogi which had a nice mix of French fries and sweet BBQ meat. The portion for the fries was huge! Service: 4/5 Staff was very nice and very quick. Ambiance: 4/5 Nicely decorated, clean and spacious. Nice seating for parties as well.
Honestly, a local gem in the area! Great spot for Korean fried chicken, with a fun pub/sports-bar type of vibe - but with kpop music videos playing all around. The chicken is cooked well with pretty good flavor and crunch. The sides are all so good. We usually get at least one order of fries, but on our last visit we also ordered the seafood pancake which was such a hit! We love that they offer both regular and sweet potato fries! We've also tried their other dishes like the chicken rice bowl which didn't really stand out to us - we stick to the fried chicken and fries. The service has always been pretty consistent, even when they get busy. They check in a few times, but otherwise will largely leave you and your party to enjoy your meal. Despite being in a strip plaza with other eateries, we've never had a difficult time finding parking. A solid spot to eat with a group of friends and can get pretty lively in on the weekends.
This is my friend's go-to Korean fried chicken spot in the area and she's taken us here a few times! The food has always been tasty and consistent, and it's never been too packed which means we never have a crazy wait for the food. Plenty of parking available in the lot too which is always a plus! Complimentary cabbage salad and pickled radish are provided. We've tried a variety of their fried chicken flavors and they've all been good! I didn't find their spicy flavors to be too spicy. While their chicken is solid, what I actually enjoy the most here is their B21 Fries! Bulgogi fries topped with a garlic yogurt sauce, pickled onions, cheese, and jalapenos - a must get for all fry lovers. HUGE serving size so perfect for sharing amongst the table! Overall, not the best Korean fried chicken I've had, but solid and consistent and never really any issues with wait time or parking, so I don't mind coming back whenever I'm in the area!
I don't know if it's the pitcher of Stella talking, but the chicken wings here were really good! I got a dozen of their "hot and crispy" wings, which are twice fried, crispy chicken wings with a moderately spicy dry rub. It's crispy, well seasoned, and had nice heat! To pair with the salty, savory chicken wings, I had an ice-cold beer, complimentary pickled radishes, their crispy fries, and corn cheese that was served with very melty mozzarella. Corn cheese is a very simple dish as it's basically canned corn and mozzarella, but when the cheese is bubbling and has browned edges, it's as good as those ingredients can be. The totality of these dishes were exactly what I needed after this long work week. I think bunker21 is a wonderful place for a pitcher of draft beer, some flavorful fried chicken, and some nice side dishes.
If you don't like chicken wings raise your hand. Ok, seeing no hands raised, lemme tell you about the double crunch even when saucy wings that I might lay down my life for! The kid who took our order was so very nice but so timid and when we asked what the soy umame was like he said "I don't know how to describe it". Welllllll... ok. He was very sweet though. Anyway, at that point I decided to make my own life's decisions hahaha and ordered the umame soy and sweet and spicy wings, along with fries and kimchi fried rice, radish and cabbage salad. Everything was loaded with flavor! Those wings tho! Fireworks in my mouf! Yes my mouf because my tongue is so spiced up that I cannot pronounce the "th" anymore! Parking is easy depending on time and day you decide to visit. Kpop and hip hop play non stop. Go here and hang out with people you like.
My new favorite Korean Fried Chicken place. I've tried all sorts of KFC in the area including Luv Dduk, Pelicana Chicken, bb.q Chicken, Furai Chicken, Love Letter, I Got My Sound Chicken, (I can keep going...). Some of those places are simply overrated and some are mid. Bunker21 is easily among the best KFC I've had. I tried Umami Soy and Hot & Crispy flavored wings. The Umami Soy is your typical sweet soy sauce glazed KFC. The chicken itself is perfectly fried, the coating is crispy with a nice bite, and the inside is juicy and well seasoned. My personal favorite of the two was the Hot & Crispy, which is a dry rub with spices. I personally liked it more than Howlin' Ray's Nashville Hot Chicken. Most KFC places don't do a good dry rub fried chicken, as they rely on the sauce. Aside from the chicken, the Kimchi Fried Rice and Fries are really good too. I got the Kickn' Cheddar Fries. I wasn't a fan of the nacho cheese powder, so I would get the regular one or a different flavor next time. The rice was delicious, not too oily, and not too salty. There is a lot of seating and the restaurant is fairly big. Parking lot is big too. The music is a bit loud, but that's pretty common for KFC bars. Service is good as well. They check in on you frequently. I highly recommend this place.
I did a pick-up order - via their website - for one thing and one thing only: Chicken wings! I got: - 12 Pieces Wings: 2 flavours of wings. $19.95 -- Reaper: Dear goodness, this was ABSOLUTELY SPICY and I LOVED every moment of it; this is coming from someone who's waited in line for Howlin' Ray's Howlin'++ (secret menu) sandos and eaten it all. -- Sweet spicy The order comes with complimentary pickled radish and shredded cabbage w/ dressing - such a stellar combination The wings were delicious - very crispy (in true Korean fried chicken fashion - thanks to the Black GIs who were stationed there and helped introduce this to Koreans), flavourful, not greasy, and a very serious kick (for the Repear). The restaurant is dimly lit yet comfortable, and I was greated by the staff upon entry. While not crowded when I went (Friday afternoon), they're always busy. I've found my new spicy chicken wings place for sure! Parking can be tight, given that they're in a small strip mall with the very popular Holos Coffee shop, moongirlnails (mani & pedi place), Koseli (a Nepali market), and a handful of other stores too. They're also next to 99 Ranch and a separate strip mall that's split up - so there's no abundance of things to do in the neighbourhood, but parking can be hard to find, depending on the time of day.
